Measurement guide

There is no small, medium or large. Fifteen measurements decide the garment, and they are the part of the order worth slowing down for. Ten minutes with a soft tape and someone to help you is enough.

Before you start

  • Wear close-fitting clothes, or none. Never measure over a jumper.
  • Use a soft tape. A metal builder’s tape cannot follow the body.
  • Keep the tape flat against you and level all the way round — check the back in a mirror.
  • Stand as you normally stand. Pulling your shoulders back changes the garment.
  • Ask someone else to take the back and shoulder measurements if you can.
  • Write centimetres if you have them. The site converts inches, but the tape is easier to read in cm.

The fifteen

  • Neck Cổ — Around the base of the neck, one finger of ease.
  • Shoulder Vai — Across the back, shoulder bone to shoulder bone.
  • Bust / chest Ngực — Fullest point, tape level all the way round.
  • Bust point Hạ đỉnh ngực — From the top of the shoulder straight down to the fullest point of the bust.
  • Front waist length Hạ eo trước — From the top of the shoulder, down over the bust, to the natural waist.
  • Back waist length Hạ eo sau — From the bone at the base of the neck, straight down the back, to the natural waist.
  • Waist Eo — Narrowest point, usually just above the navel.
  • Hip Mông — Fullest point of the seat, feet together.
  • Hip depth Hạ đỉnh mông — From the natural waist straight down to the fullest point of the seat.
  • Thigh Đùi — Around the fullest part, standing.
  • Knee Gối — Around the knee, leg straight.
  • Sleeve length Dài tay — From the shoulder bone to the wrist bone, arm slightly bent.
  • Upper arm Bắp tay — Around the widest part, arm relaxed.
  • Wrist Cổ tay — Over the wrist bone.
  • Rise Đáy quần — Sitting on a hard chair: from the natural waist at the front, between the legs, to the natural waist at the back.

If you would rather not

Any tailor or alterations shop will take these fifteen in a few minutes, often for nothing. Print this page, or show them the list on your phone.

If a measurement looks wrong

The sheet flags a figure that sits outside the usual range for that zone. That is a prompt to check the tape, not a refusal — bodies vary, and the atelier would rather cut to an unusual number you have confirmed than to a typing error you did not notice.
